Hope all of you are in good health. Today, I will share you a very essential and important thing which you must know. Though it is very essential thing in our modern life, many of us are not aware of this. In this tutorial, I will discuss about Cloud Storage and how to use it, features and advantages etc.
Let’s start with what is Cloud Storage?
- Cloud storage is a service model in which data is maintained, managed, backed up remotely and made available to users over a network (Usually Internet). Cloud Storage allows world-wide storage and retrieval of any amount of data at any time. You can use Cloud Storage for a range of scenarios including serving website content, storing data for archival and disaster recovery, or distributing large data objects to users via direct download.
Cloud Storage Providers:
- There are many cloud storage providers who are providing cloud storage as free and paid term. Such as: Google (Google Drive), Microsoft (Microsoft Onedrive), Dropbox any many more. Every provider has some different facilities for their clients. So, it may varry provider to provider about their services.
Advantages of Cloud Storage:
The Cloud Storage has many advantages. I am discussing the main topics here.
With the advancement of technology, people now have access to different type of gadgets for work as well as recreational purpose. With cloud storage services, people are no longer required to toggle files between different gadgets which can prove to be complex and cumbersome. Files and information can be accessed from different places provided that, there is internet connection.
Sharing data with cloud storage is more easy and efficient. Just copy the sharing link and send to the person you want to share. Not like bringing a portable hard disk or usb flash drive. And the most amazing thing is the receiver can access both on the cloud and via his device after downloading.
The most secure place to store your data. Be free of losing data for unexpected disk damage. Your data will be safe and only yours until you share with anyone.
- Backup Option:
What will you do if you need to partition your whole hard disk? Obviously, you will need a portable hard disk or another data storage device. I takes long time to copy and paste. Instead, just upload your data on a cloud storage and access whenever you need.
Everything in the world has a good side and a bad side. Like everything, Cloud Storage has also some disadvantages. Let’s See:
- No Hard Drive:
For some users the lack of a hard drive is an advantage, as they can reduce costs. For those who use programs that need an attached hard drive, however, this may be unpleasant. Still, an increasing number of companies eliminate the need for a hard drive, in an effort to make data management easier.
- Technical Problems:
There is no doubt that cloud storage services allow people to access information from any place with an internet connection but, technical problems can occur at any time. Chances of technical issues or outages can never be disregarded when it comes to technology. Even the most highly efficient and quality cloud storage service providers run into such risks at different times.
- Speed Issue:
There are times when users of cloud storage services face a difficult time downloading and uploading large documents as they tend to take huge amounts of time.
- Internet Dependency:
Cloud computing needs network connections to work. When the network is down, cloud services are down as well. What’s more, when the network runs slowly, your services run slowly as well, and your work is affected. Even if cloud computing providers take precautions to ensure that the network has a great uptime, the risk will always remain.
Though, there are both advantages and disadvantages in Cloud Storage, we should know the use of it. In the next post I will how you gradually how to use Cloud Storage of different Providers. Till then Stay Tuned.
